General

Q: Why do I need MulTimer?
A: MulTimer is a multifunctional timer which can replace several utilities that you currently use for measuring time. Available timer types include ascending and countdown timers, as well as high-precision stopwatches. MulTimer provides unprecedented flexibility to satisfy all your timing needs.

Q: How does MulTimer differ from other timer utilities?
A: MulTimer provides you with more than just one timer, hence its name, Multiple Timer. In fact, you can define an unlimited number of timers that all behave differently, each characterized by a unique sequence of signaled events.

Q: Which phones is MulTimer compatible with?
A: MulTimer can be installed and executed on all smartphones running on Symbian 7.0 with UIQ 2.0 or 2.1.

Q: What do you call timers and events in MulTimer?
A: A timer is a unit of execution that can be loaded and run in the main Display view. An event is a signaled happening bound to a moment within the duration of the timer it belongs to. With MulTimer you can define multiple timers each with a specific set of events.

Display

Q: What is shown on the main timer display?
A: The upper part of the display shows the currently loaded timer's name. Tap on the timer name to bring up the Timer information dialog and view timer details. The timer display panel shows the measured time when the timer is running. The lower part of the display lists the events that belong to the current timer, each marked with icon symbols for their execution status. In the case of a stopwatch the lower part shows lap times instead of events.

Q: What do the small digits mean on the right hand side?
A: The upper line displays the current local time. The middle line shows the time remaining until the next event. The lower line displays the timer status.

Q: Can I change the color of the timer display?
A: Yes, you can change the digit colors in Preferences/Display.

Running a timer

Q: How to run a timer?
A: Tap on the Start button. While the timer is running, you can suspend it by tapping on the same button, labeled as Stop. To resume the timer, press the Start button again. A stopped timer can be restarted by tapping on the Reset button, then pressing Start. You can also use a designated hardware key for start/stop, as set in Preferences/Key.

Q: How to see the list of timers while the timer is running?
A: To switch to the Timers view, first stop and reset the running timer, then select Timers in the top-right menu, or press the arrow toolbar button.

Q: How do I notice when the timer expires?
A: Events of the running timer are signaled by various means. In the Display view's event listing the selection bar and the icon symbols are updated whenever an event occurs. A sound alert can be assigned to each timer in the Modify timer dialog. Additional global event signals are set in Preferences/Action.

Timers

Q: What else than running the stopwatch can be done?
A: Just switch to the Timers view to see a list of selectable timers. To do this, stop and reset the currently running timer, then select Timers in the top-right menu. You can use any of the listed timers by pressing the Load button. You can also change existing or create new timers with the Modify and New buttons.

Q: How do I switch to using another timer?
A: Select the required timer in Timers view, and press the Load toolbar button.

Q: How to change an existing timer?
A: Select the timer you want to change in Timers view, and press the Modify button. The Modify timer dialog pops up, where you can set various parameters of the timer. Note that the events of the timer can only be viewed in this dialog. Events are modified from the Events view.

Q: Can I create my own timer with different events?
A: Absolutely! The ability of doing so is the main advantage of MulTimer. To define a new timer, display the Timers view and press the New toolbar button. Set the required data in the appearing New timer dialog and press the Done button. A default event is added to each timer which you can modify right afterwards. Additional events can also be added at this time or later. You can also modify any of the defined timers and their events.

Q: How does a stopwatch differs from an upwards timer?
A: A stopwatch is a type of an ascending timer with the following specifics. A stopwatch has one event only, which defines its duration and can not be deleted. In the Display view lap times are shown instead of this single event. Lap times are triggered by pressing the Lap button or the designated hardware key. A stopwatch can measure hundredths of seconds by setting its precision to high.

Events

Q: How to define additional events?
A: Go to Events view and tap on the New button to bring up the New event dialog. Set the dismiss time and a description for the event you are defining. You can also edit existing events by pressing the Modify button.

Q: How do I specify the time for an event?
A: In the New/Modify event dialog tap on the time display field of the Hours/Minutes line. Left to the colon set the hours between 0 and 23. Right to the colon set the minutes between 00 and 59. Then tap on the time display field of the Seconds line, and set the seconds between 00 and 59. Note that you can not set all three times to zero.
